At its Steering Committee meeting on October 21, 2015, Bathurst Community Climate Action Network decided to petition Bathurst Regional Council to support and promote urban tree cover. The petition is now being circulated, with the following wording:
“Following the welcome addition of liquidambar trees on Bradwardine Road, we, the undersigned residents of Bathurst Regional Council, request that Council continue to support urban trees by: 1) Provide 15-20% tree canopy shade on urban streets and carparks. 2) Preserve and enhance the native trees and plants at Centennial Park. 3) Retain the 13 London plane trees on Durham Street between William and George Streets.”
