Dear BCCAN Members,

Welcome to our new members. There’s so much going on – so much to share with you about our group, climate change and the environment in our region.  Here are just a few of the latest items. BCCAN made a submission opposing the new application by Coalpac for an Open Cut Mine on public land in the Garden of Stone near Lithgow. See attached and please make a submission.

Reviewers of the Renewable Energy Target have said they will consider abolition without compensation – you still have time to support a renewable energy future for Australia the submission deadline is 16th May – see article below. Our review of the Council’s State of the Environment Report has lots of important issues relating to Climate Change mitigation and adaptation in this area.  See below.

Council has an important program of landcare and tree planting programs being conducted in the catchment, parks and on Mount Panorama see the attached newsletter for details how you might volunteer!
