Bathurst Community Climate Action has joined the national #StopAdani campaign.
Right now, foreign-owned mining company Adani wants to build the biggest coal mine in Australia’s history. The coal from this mine would cook the climate and wreck the Great Barrier Reef.
Right now, climate change is unfolding around us. Our Reef is undergoing its second climate-induced bleaching event in under a year. Queensland is being dragged through one of the ‘driest and hottest summers on record’. South Australians are rallying against the Federal government, tired of their lights being turned out by extreme weather events.
Australians have had enough. The vast majority of people across the nation agree – climate change is a priority and that Adani’s climate catastrophe cannot go ahead if we want a liveable future.
A movement is building, of Australians coming together to #StopAdani. An unprecedented Alliance has been launched to #StopAdani. Thirteen organisations representing 1.5 million Australians have united with a single purpose: To build the biggest anti-coal movement in Australia’s history, to stop Adani’s coal mine and end coal for good. At the launch of the alliance Bob Brown stated simply:
“This will be bigger than the Franklin.”
Together, we will #StopAdani. To win, we need to get active – in our communities, at work, and in our places of education.
People power is our last and indeed our best chance of stopping this coal mine.
This is how history is made. It’s time to #StopAdani.
